DESCRIPTION :

Anastrozole is a non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor used primarily in the treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women. It works by reducing oestrogen production in the body, helping slow the growth of hormone-sensitive cancer cells.

INDICATIONS :

Treatment of hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer in postmenopausal women.

Treatment of locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer.

Used as adjuvant therapy following breast cancer surgery.

Used in selected cases of breast cancer that have progressed after tamoxifen treatment.

HOW IT WORKS :

Blocks the aromatase enzyme.

Prevents conversion of androgens into oestrogen.

Reduces oestrogen levels in the body .

Helps slow the growth of oestrogen-dependent breast cancer cells.

IMPORTANT NOTICE :

May cause hot flashes , joint pain and weakness.

Long-term use may reduce bone mineral density and increase fracture risk.

May increase cholesterol levels.

can cause nausea, headache and joint stiffness.

Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Requires regular medical monitoring, including bone health assessment.

Should only be used under an oncologist’s supervision.
